Karla Moffatt, our dear friend and supporter who fought a courageous battle with cancer, passed away August 22, 2025. We were saddened by her passing, but her legacy of Faith in God, love of family, and efforts in building Harpeth soccer will live on with the Karla Moffatt Girls Soccer Scholarship. Karla, along with her husband Paul, have been ardent supporters of soccer at Harpeth Middle School and Harpeth High School. Karla and Paul were one of five sets of parents that signed a promissory note guaranteeing loan repayment for construction of Hockenberger Field, home to Harpeth Soccer. Karla served as the secretary of South Cheatham Soccer, the group that built and paid for the project. The group relied on Karla’s determination on seeing this project completed and all monies repaid. Karla was relentless in organizing numerous fundraisers, including numerous pancake breakfasts, to help fund the soccer teams. Karla was also the consummate soccer mom to their daughter Alex, a player for Harpeth MS and Harpeth HS Girls Soccer teams, and now head coach of the Harpeth MS Girls Soccer team.
The recipient of this scholarship must be a graduating senior at Harpeth High School, a member of the HHS Girls Soccer Team, and in good academic standing (more details on the formal application). The player should possess the positive team spirit and selfless attitude exemplified by Karla Moffatt. $500 will be applied to post-secondary education, including college, community college, trade or Vo-Tech school noted on the application.

The “Harpeth Benevolence Association Boys Soccer Scholarship” has been established at Harpeth High School. As the name implies, a deserving graduating senior member of the HHS Boys Soccer team will earn an award. There is an application process and more details are available from HHS guidance counselors.
Harpeth Benevolence Association, a local 501c3 non-profit, is administering the scholarship. If you would like to assist in supporting this scholarship fund, Venmo to: @harpethbenevolence
